Jennifer Diane (Freda Desbien) Ballou, age 62, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at the St. Anthony Campus of the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. The daughter of Charlotte (GRANT) and the late Claude DESBIEN, she was born on October 31, 1937, in rural Palco,
Kansas.
She was a secondary school teacher and had lived in Colorado for many years before moving back to Palco in May, 2000
Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Claude.
She is survived by her mother, Charlotte DESBIEN, of Palco; a son, Lieutenant Commander Michael E. PURCELL, United States Navy, and his wife, Dierdre, Chesapeake, Virginia; two brothers, Don DESBIEN of Palco, KS, and Larry DESBIEN of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary KNOLL of Palco, KS, and Carol O'SHEA of West Milford, New Jersey; and three
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2000, at the St. Joseph Catholic church, Damar, Kansas. Officiating were Father Donald McCarthy and Father Bill Kilian. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco, Kansas.
