NICODEMUS—Ada Cornelia Bates, 92, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Dawson Place Nursing Home, Hill City. She was born Aug. 2, 1909, in rural Nicodemus to Neil Cornelius & Anna (Burnside) Williams-Jackson. She married Alvin T. Bates on Oct. 11, 1928, in Stockton, Ks. He died Nov. 9, 1986. She was a homemaker & lifetime area resident. She was a member of the first Missionary Baptist Church, Nicodemus.

Survivors include two sons, Theodore Franklin Bernard & Perry Delano, two daughters, Glorietta Alvena Alexander & Billie Celestine Brodgen, a brother, Gordon Williams, a sister, Hilda Hunt, 16 grandchildren 16 great grand children, & five great-great ögrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister & two brothers. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Spencer-Stinemetz Funeral Chapel, Hill City, with the Revs. Gene Williams & Chester Williams Sr. ; burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery, rural Bouge. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
