AURORA, COLO. — La Verne M. Griffie, 96, formerly of Hill City, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Aurora Care Center. She was born April 29, 1906, in Nicodemus, [Kansas], to William & Anna (Wallace) Buckner. She married Alvester B. Griffie on Nov. 2, 1927, in WaKeeney. He died March 25, 1972. She was a homemaker. Survivors include four sons, Richard, Lyle, Charles & Howard, three daughters, Arnetta Nevins, Alpha Sango & Constance Woods, a sister, Eva VanDuvall, 35 grandchildren, & 15 great grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spencer-Stinemetz Chapel, Hill City; burial in the Mount Olive Cemetery, rural Bouge, [ Ks.] Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
