Louis Franklin QUINT, son of Jothan [Jotham, sp] and Mary QUINT, was born July 17, 1852, near Nauvoo, Illinois and passed away at this home in Hill City, Kansas, January 19, 1943. He grew to manhood on the same farm on which he was born... He was married to Isabell F. JACKSON at her home near Nauvoo, March 9, 1876. A few years were spent in Iowa, Nebraska; then in 1884 they came to Beloit, Kansas, living there till 1902, when he and his family moved to Graham County, settling on a farm 2 1/2 miles south of Hill City. To this union were born 8 daughter and 3 sons, 2 daughters and 1 son having preceded him in death.

He is survived by his widow, his two sons, C. D. QUINT and Elmer L. QUINT of Hill City; six daughters Mrs. Clara STEVENSON of the home, Mrs Mabel LOYD of Salina, Kansas, Mrs Grace GILLILAND of Arkansas City, Kansas, Mrs. Hazel PARSONS of Colby, Kansas and Mrs. Jennie DUNWOODY and Mrs. Florence MORRIS of Hill City; also two brothers, A. L. QUINT of Portland, Oregon and M. E. QUINT of Des Moines, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was very devoted to his family, always fair in ever way, teaching them to look for good and not evil. His motto was "honesty is the best policy". Always industrious he ever found time to help in the educational program of the district and county. He served as member of the school board in his own district for a number of terms.
