Janet M. SPORING, age 55, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2000, at the Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas. The daughter of Anna (FLAX) GEIST and the late Adam GEIST, she was born April 28, 1945, at Hays, Kansas.
Janet was a housekeeper for the Super 8 Motel in WaKeeney. She had been a resident of WaKeeney since moving there from Quinter, Kansas in 1975. She was a graduate of Hill City High School, and a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church and its Altar Society in WaKeeney. Janet and Dennis E. SPORING were married on October 20, 1978 at the First United Methodist Church in WaKeeney. He survives.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, Dennis SPORING, and her mother, Anna GEIST of WaKeeney, include two sons, Lawrence WERTH of Winona, Kansas and Lonnie WERTH of Harrison, Arkansas; a daughter, Reesa GERHARD of Hays, Kansas; two brothers, Donald GEIST and Norman GEIST, both of WaKeeney; three sisters, Delores KERBAUGH of Hill City, Kansas; Elaine WERTH of WaKeeney, Kansas; and Frieda WERTH of Wichita, Kansas; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and an infant sister, Mary Ann GEIST.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2000, at Christ the King Catholic Church in WaKeeney, Kansas. Officiating were Father Donald F. PFANNENSTIEL and Father Joseph SCHEETZ. Memorials were suggested to the charity of the donor's choice or to masses.
