Lincoln County
Landowners

The intention of this listing is to try to give researchers some help in narrowing down exactly where their ancestors’ land was located. To my knowledge, there is no index by landowner to the records in the Register of Deeds office at the Lincoln County Courthouse. This list may help researchers in making requests for information from the Register of Deeds office.
There were misspellings on the original maps. I have transcribed the names as they appeared on the original maps. In some instances, particulary in the case of small lots, such as town lots, the writing was difficult or impossible to read, but I have done my best to get as many names as possible.
I hesitated to include the acreage numbers. In some cases no number was given; in other cases the section clearly didn’t have as many acres accounted for as it should have. But I decided to include those numbers, exactly as written on the maps. In cases where an acreage number wasn’t given, I have left a blank rather than try to guess.
If you find the same landowner listed twice in one section, it is not a typo -- it means he or she owned two separate parcels within that section. For instance, Walter Meyer owned two 80-acre parcels in Section 22, Pleasant Township.
