Barrett's Rocks

Main street on Lincoln county’s own Rock City is nearly four miles long. This picture [hopefully a link is coming soon!] shows only a small spot in the rocky ledges and croppings that extend from the Quartzite plant southwest across the river.
These are “Barrett’s Rocks,” where many young folks have picnicked and explored during three generations. They are located southwest of Lincoln about two miles.
The rounded shape of the quartzite boulders closely resembles the stones of Rock City, southwest of Minneapolis, more publicized but hardly more interesting and attractive than the rugged rocks nearer home, and not nearly so extensive.
Farther south, along the same rocky formation, is the Indian Cave on the Oppliger farm, near where many Indian arrowheads have been found, marking it as an Indian battleground.
