To J. VanLewen and wife, of Pottersburg, a daughter was born on Nov. 26. This is the seventh daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. VanLewen, who are now "even with" E. Christianson and wife, their neighbors, who have seven sons. The two families are among the most worthy people in the county.

[From the Barnard correspondent] Last Thursday a son was born to Mr. John Ulsh. It weighed four pounds in a profusion of wraps. Its head has been fitted into a teacup, and a lady’s finger ring has been slipped over its hand onto its arm. This diminutive specimen of humanity is pert and hearty. [Sadly, this baby died a week later.]

[From the Madison correspondent] To Mr. and Mrs. Orville Capper, July 13, a son.
[From the Marion Township correspondent] July 20 a boy was born to N.M. Hall and wife and the corn has been growing right along ever since.
[From the Marion Township corresondent] Dr. Clark was committee on reception at Melli Sullivan’s, July 5, but on account of the mud he arrived too late to be of any service. Melli says he will set up the cigars to all comers, as it is the first Sullivan boy born in the county.

[From the Barnard correspondent] There is an exception to the gneral rule in the births in this place and vicinity, which have generally been males, as a daughter was born to Mr. Kiff, of the hardware firm, on the 9th inst., which weighed 10 pounds. It first saw the light of the day we completed our 79th year. When she reaches the age of 21 we will scarcely be a centenarian, but rather on the forgotten list. Both mother and daughter are doing well. [Name also appears as Kieff.]

A son was born to L.P. Heady and wife of Beaver township, Nov. 14. Mother and child doing finely. There is unlimited rejoicing in the Heady household over this, the first born. The family are open to suggestions for a name, but remember that "Grover" and "McKinley" don’t go.

Sunday, June 14, 1896, at Pottersburg, Lincoln county, Kan., to E. Christianson and wife, a fine daughter. It was announced from the platform of the Radical Reform Christian Association after adjournment, by the president, who moved that the society adopt the child with the Chautauqua salute, which was done, and the name of Anna Lord was bestowed upon her then and there. It is not too much to hope that before this child is 21 years of age that all the reforms for which the R.R.C.A. stands will be fully established in this and all other Christian countries. – Anna C.
