Included here are marriages, births, divorces, departures, arrivals, special celebrations, tragic accidents, etc. from 1931 and 1932 newspapers If you are looking for death notices or obituaries please go to our Lincoln County Obituaries page.
An important note... the places, Colorado and Indiana, sometimes refer to locations (i.e. townships) within Lincoln County, not the states... We have tried to indicate this when those names show up.

Barnard Bee -- Barnard, KS -- Thursday, Jan. 29, 1931
Barn Destroyed By Fire
--The barn on the Fred CROWL place southeast of Barnard was completely
destroyed by fire about dark last Friday evening. Nothing is known concerning
the origin of the fire according to reports reaching this office.
T. CROWL, a brother of Fred CROWL, has been taking care of Fred's cattle
since Fred moved to Hollins, [Cloud County] Kansas, several months ago. The
last known person to be at the place was T's hired man, who attended to the
stock there that day. When he left the place late in the afternoon, there was no sign
of fire or anyone loitering in the vicinity. The barn was a large frame structure. It
was not an old building and the insurance will not cover the loss. Besides the barn,
several bushels of cane seed belonging to T. CROWL, and considerable other grain
and feed were a complete loss.
This is the second fire at the CROWL farm in the past few weeks, ad the house on
the place was also mysteriously destroyed by fire the latter part of November.
--Henry WOODY shipped a load of cattle to the Kansas City market via the Santa Fe
Tuesday morning
--Born: To Mr. and Mrs. Archie BROCKWAY a son, Jan. 27, 1931, whom they have
named Archie LaVerne.
--Miss Verda BROCKWAY of the Eureka neighborhood spent several days last week
as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil PRUITT of Saltville.

---A nine pound boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Alex Woody of southeast of town on
Sunday, January 17. Both mother and child [Donald Mac Woody] are reported to be getting along nicely.

LOGAN WON GAME
By a Score of 9 to 5 the Logan Team Got "Sweet Revenge" for the Shut-out Handed Them in Game a Week Ago
The Barnard ball team played the return game with the Logan nine Sunday
afternoon, journeying to their diamond, and returning home with the small end of
the 9 to 5 score. And thus did the Logan boys get "revenge" for the shut-out
handed them in the game played here a week ago.
It was a good game, however, and the battery on each team did good work. The
fielders, too, came in for their share of chances well handled.

---Barnard defeated Beverly in a game of ball here today with a score of 9 to 0. This
was the third game between these teams this season, each having one game to it's credit.
Henry WOODY and Henry JONES did the battery work for Barnard.
Barnard Bee -- Barnard, KS -- Thursday, September 22, 1932
---Barnard defeated Beverly Sunday by a score of 11 to 5 in the game played
on the Elkhorn diamond.
