IMPORTANT NOTES:
---The 1885 census didn't include information on all veterans living in Lincoln County, Kansas. We know this as we have a veteran ancestor who is listed in the census but has no military information here.
---It is possible that there were Confederate veterans living in Lincoln County in 1885, but we have found very few men listed as veterans in the census from any of the deep South states although there are several families in Lincoln County who came from that part of the country. To the victor goes the spoils, as well as a mention in the 1885 census!
---Not all veterans here may be from the Civil War, 1861-1865. There were Indian Wars after the Civil War. Also after the Civil War during the time period known as The Reconstruction federal troups were still stationed in the southern states.

He died at age 89 on 17 Feb 1908 in Kansas City, Mo (at the home of his son Fred Casner) and was buried in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno County, KS where he had lived since retiring from farming in Lincoln Co, KS.
