The Location
of
Poverty Hill

From the Lincoln Beacon, June 2, 1887
It is one of the largest round mounds or hills between the Saline river and Salt Creek. The hill stands four miles north and two miles east of Beverly. The top of the hill affords a grand view of the surrounding country. From the summit of the hill you can see Minneapolis at a distance of 17 miles, and Ada, seven miles northeast, and when the air is clear, you can see Salina, a distance of 35 miles. [From the Poverty Hill correspondent's column.]
