Beverly (HIMES) BARGER (email: bcookiegma@cs.com) - 07 Sep. 2001
Searching Lincoln Co, Kansas for information on Frank & Laura PRIEST family and child Mary Ann STOGSDILL they may have adopted. My 2nd great grandparents James Charles STOGSDILL & Mary Ann (FRAZEE) had a daughter Mary Ann STOGSDILL born 1881 in Kansas, probably Lincoln Co, Kansas. Her mother Mary Ann died young in childbirth. I found Mary Ann STOGSDILL age 4 living with the frank and Laura PRIEST family in the 1885 Lincoln Co, Kansas state census. I want to find whatever happened to the child Mary Ann. Did she live and have descendants? I would like to find any descendants of the PRIEST or STOGSDILL surname tocorrespond with on their family history. I am also searching for burial place of the mother Mary Ann (FRAZEE) STOGSDILL. They lived in a sod house on the Kansas prairie.
James C. & Mary Ann (FRAZEE) STOGSDILL and their children were in the 1880 Lincoln Co, Kansas census. After Mary Ann died 2nd great-grandfather James C. STOGSDILL sent most of his children back to Decatur, Illinois on the train to live with relatives there. My great-grandfather Charles Edward STOGSDILL was James & Mary's son and a brother of the child Mary Ann.
Thank you for your time.

William Sylvester Jewell (email: wsj@maxwell.berkeley.edu) - 9 May 2002
HART, STAFFORD, HORN, SYLVESTER

In Jan 1885 in Plainview, Wabasha MN, Hattie Alice SYLVESTER married A. Porter STAFFORD. They had a son, Allen STAFFORD b. April 1886, and two daughters, b. Sep 1898 and Dec 1890 (All born in Plainview). One daughter may have been named Frances. A.P. STAFFORD was the prosperous local hardware merchant. In Jan 1983, Hattie SYLVESTER died in childbirth.

In Aug 1893, STAFFORD married again, to Hulda HORN of Plainview, who took over responsibility for raising the three children (ages 7,5,3). This family continued to live in Plainview until Jan 1899, when they moved to Home IA.

It is believed that STAFFORD eventually moved to Kansas, perhaps to be near a daughter. In his 1933 obituary (location not given), it states that one of his daughters was "Mrs. Willard HART of Barnard [LINCOLN] KS". Does anyone have any information on Mr. and Mrs. Willard HART and/or of A. Porter STAFFORD? We would like to contact any of their descendants about a family reunion in Plainview MN this summer.

Hello...I am trying to locate any information anyone out there may have regarding the Woody family, Dahlonega GA (Lumpkin County.) I am trying to locate the parents names for my ggggrandfather, Comadore D. WOODY. He was a resident of Lumpkin Co. Georgia and was killed in the Civil War at Vicksburg. Some of the Woody family migrated towards Lincoln County. Any info is most appreciated!!

I am trying to find out when my grandfather, Arthur ROSE Sr. , was the Sheriff of Lincoln. I have an old photo of him and his oldest son, Alec, after they raided a still. Would love to send you a copy if you wish.
Thank you,

I am seeking burial information for the family of Joshua and Margaret Amanda Bevard FOULKE. Joshua abandoned the family and left Margaret with the children. One of the sons, Wesley, was murdered in 1897. Another son, Charles Robert Foulke, moved to Jewell Co, KS, where he died in 1965. The 1900 census says that Margaret was the mother of 10, 7 living. I only have the names or initials of 8 found in the 1880 Federal and 1885 KS state censuses. The family lived in Scott Twp.
Thanks for your help.
