His mother was Florence Mae ROBINSON and she moved to Marion County with her father in 1884. I believe his name was William. She married Charles Critendon WALKER on April 27, 1886. --------------------------- NUSZ Neil Douglas Nusz (neilorvicki@netmdc.com) 25 December 2004 Requesting any information in regards to Johannus & Susana (EHRLICH) NUSZ and children who immigrated to Marion, Kansas in 1876 from Shcherbakovka, Russia. They came with Christoph EHRLICH's five adult children, Katherine (EHRLICH) and Friedrich DAHLINGER and four of their children, Jacob and Anna EHRLICH and five children. I am also trying to determine if Johannus is related to George NUSZ, Sr., who also immigrated to Marion, Kansas in 1886. Any information is helpful, even if it is family stories, lore, etc. --------------------------- MURRY...WARD...HEATH skay1912@wmconnect.com 19 December 2004 Looking for cemetery and marriage records on family members of Andrew MURRY and Martha WARD who are listed on the 1920 and 1930 census in Marion County, Kansas. Martha is the daughter of Elwood WARD and Anna B. HEATH. I would like to find his parentage. --------------------------- BILLINGS...THOMPSON...HOOPS...WEST Laraine Clark (clarkrn@msn.com) 14 November 2004 I have been researching my husband's BILLINGS and related family lines that came into Marion County, Kansas as early as 1860. William BILLINGS and his 2nd wife, Keziah, came into Marion County in 1860 and settled about one mile west of town. He may have been one of the first settlers into the area. His nephew, Levi BILLINGS and wife Emily (DYER) BILLINGS came about 1865. Emily died in 1875 and Levi married 2nd to Carrie HOOPS in 1876 and had a 2nd family by her. Levi and Emily had 2 surviving children: Melvin Ozias BILLINGS and Mary Alice BILLINGS. Melvin Ozias BILLINGS was first married to Fannie WEST in 1888 in Marion, Kansas. She died the next year, 1889. Mary Alice BILLINGS was the third wife of Canada Harry THOMPSON and married him in Wichita, Kansas in 1897. Levi BILLINGS became very prosperous in Marion, as did C. H. THOMPSON. However, a series of setbacks and an economic recession struck the area in the 1890s and they were financially ruined and had to leave the area. They were for a time in Oklahoma and C. H. THOMPSON became a Federal Marshal in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Melvin Ozias BILLINGS married 2nd to Elizabeth VOGWILL and they moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where Melvin worked in the Marshal's office and both he and his wife served as "Deputy Marshals". They were the parents of 2 sons: Harry and Melvin Levi BILLINGS. Melvin Levi BILLINGS was my husband's Grandfather and he was born in 1902 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Melvin Ozias BILLINGS died of heart complications in 1902, when his young son was only a few months old, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Elizabeth (VOGWILL) BILLINGS continued to work in the Marshal's office for a time and then returned to Chicago, Illinois, where her family lived, when her health also failed. She died in 1912, leaving her two sons as orphans. Mary Alice (BILLINGS) THOMPSON and her husband, Canada Harry THOMPSON adopted her two nephews and changed their surname to Thompson. Canada Harry THOMPSON raised the boys and he died in 1923. Mary Alice died in 1962. We have been trying to trace the ancestry of Canada Harry THOMPSON. His parents on a marriage record were listed as "Charles THOMPSON and Keziah Ann LENNAN." We have not been able to find Charles or Keziah in any census so far. Canada Harry THOMPSON was born 8 January 1850, (some records state 1846, some 1851) supposedly in Illinois. A history states he lived in Henry County, Iowa, but I have not found his family there. He married Maria Louise VAN PELT in 1879 in Warren County, Iowa and they were living in Marion, Kansas by the time of the 1880 census. Maria Louise (VAN PELT) THOMPSON died in 1886 and was buried in Indianola Cemetery in Warren County, Iowa. C. H. THOMPSON then married to Nettie Louisa HOOPS on 23 February 1887 in Marion, Kansas. I believe that they later divorced either in Kansas or after going to Oklahoma and C. H. THOMPSON married 3rd to Mary Alice BILLINGS. --------------------------- KUGLER...SCHMIDT Viola Boulware (vib@consolidated. net) 3 November 2004 Any information on Louis KUGLER, do not know when he was born or died. Martha (SCHMIDT) KUGLER, his wife was born 9 February 1866 in Germany and died 22 January 1937 on a farm southeast of Marion, Kansas. Martha is buried in the Lincolnville Cemetery, Marion County, Kansas. Her parents were C. J. SCHMIDT and Dorothy (Dorothea) DRUSEDEN. Louis and Martha (SCHMIDT) KUGLER were my Grandparents. --------------------------- KLINE...DODY Rae Woodruff (rae.woodruff@cox.net) 25 October 2004 Our ancestors first settled in Marion County before 1876. It was in that year, George KLINE, born in Indiana, married Hannah Wilhelmina DODY, born in Ohio. I don't know how they met in Marion County. They had 7 children. The first son died as an infant and is buried in Marion Cemetery. They had 3 girls and 3 more boys; Josephine Robert Clara Belle Albert (our direct) Milo Melvin Gladys This weekend I found George and Hannah's gravestone in Marion Cemetery, I also found Joseph KLINE. I believe the Joseph is George's father. My request is for a copy of their obituaries if possible. Some of the information is shown below, the information I really would like to have is, where were they buried? And when did Elisabeth die? I have learned the Elisabeth was probably buried at the Gnadenau Cemetery in back of the old school and KMB church in 1876 to 1878. Later a farmer destroyed the tombstone and the remains were moved to another cemetery. The Ebenfeld Church cemetery has no record of them. I am also interested in Liberty Township maps showing location of the 160 acres the David BLOCK, Sr. purchased in 1874. He purchased some more land later. I would appreciate the dates, locations and price he paid for both, or if he sold them before he passed away. Do you have information on some of his 10 children? Mainly: Katherina (BLOCK) BUEHLER Elizabeth (BLOCK) JANZEN David BLOCK, Jr. Helena (BLOCK) WILMS/WILLIAMS Most of them or all were born at Rudnerweide, Molotschna Colony, South Russia. However on Elizabeth (BLOCK) JANZEN, I have no birth, marriage, or death date. Nor on her husband, or his first name. How many children did David Jr. have with Katherina? (married widow Katharina (KUKNKEL) UNRUH with three children who were his step-children). Need some names of his Grandchildren too.
