Query: I am researching the name Henderson, first name either Corneilius or Albert. Family left Kentucky after the Civil War and settled in Osawatame, probably 1870 to 1880. Husband's father born June 1891 in Miami county - I believe. Would appreciate any information on this.

Response: On p. 204 of Cemeteries of Miami Co., KS, Vol. I, the following information from Spring Grove cemetery, Row S, Lot #7 - Smith, Mary, died May 1, 1868, aged 30 yrs, wife of Ruben; Smith, Margaret J., died Apr. 4, 1874, aged 29 yrs, wife of Ruben. On p. 120 of Cemeteries of Miami Co., KS, Vol. II, the following information from New Louisburg Cemetery, Row 4, Lot #W36 - Smith, Henry C. Oct 30, 1902 - Aug 30, 1974; Smith, Stella M. Apr 1895 - Feb 28, 1978.

Query: I am trying to trace Bridget Morgan and her husband Barney Morgan. Bridget may have died aroun 1868-1869. In 1870 Barney Morgan had remarried to a Mary and was living in Wea township.

Response: In Vol. II of Cemetereies on Miami Co., KS, p. 84, in the Old Louisburg Cemetery was the following: Lot M 137 - Morgan, Barney A. Nov 24, 1879-May 24, 1934; Morgan, Zina I. June 2, 1884-May 12, 1967. You may wish to contact the State of Kansas to obtain death certificates to see if they may have additional information which could be of use to you.

Of possible interest are records for Wea Cemetery (Vol. II, p. 187) which show the following: Lot 118 - Morgan, Elizabeth July 1878-Feb 1879; Morgan, Bernard Jan 1872-June1873 Inf son and dau of Bernard and Mary; Morgan, Catherine dau of Bernard died Nov 8, 1891 16Y 8M 20D. Also in buried in this same lot is Kerner (Keiner?), Catherine wife of M. B. July 7, 1842-Aug 12, 1916. Above the entries for this lot is the following notation: + (Barney) (Bernard).

Query: Seeking any and all info on surnames Baker, Brannan, Moews, Musick, Woods and Stahl from Miami and Linn County area towns and the communities of Paola, Osawatomie, Parker and Beagle. Seeking information on the Roy William Baker (b 1910, d abt 1963) who lived in Osawatomie, Miami Co, KS.

Moews was my mother's maiden name. Parents were Frank and Mary. They lived on a farm in Paola. Maternal relations are Readecker and Brannon, respectively (I think). Would be curious of any info regarding birth/death of a daughter born to Roy Baker and Nora (Brannon) Baker of Osawatomie in early 1900's (before 1927). Burial is in Osawatomie cemetery and may have proximity to Roy Baker buried there in 1960's. Roy is my gfather.

Response: There are no records for Brannan or Musick in Family Histories and Stories of Miami Co., KS.

In Family Histories and Stories, p. 270-271, Jacob J. Moews and Maria Gropmeier Moews had nine children. Two sons mentioned Albert John (born Bloomington, Illinois, 11 May 1885) and Frank. The family moved to the Burlington-Westphalia, Kansas area in 1904. About 1909, they moved to Paola, KS, and lived on a farm on the east edge of Paola. This farm was later owned by Frank Moews. There is nothing further about Jacob, his wife, son Frank or the 7 unnamed children. All the remaining information is about Albert John Moews and his descendents.

Query: I am looking for descendants of John Franklin Fisher (b 1 Oct 1859, d 9 Jan 1948, m 14 Aug 1884 to Jennie Jones) and George Taylor Fisher (b 29 Jun 1862 Hillsdale, KS, d 28 May 1956, m Mary H. Sellers. Their father was George Henry Fisher. I have earlier Fisher information to share.

George Henry Fisher (b 1823 WV, d 1863 Miami Co., KS, buried at Hillsdale, Miami Co., KS) He was married three times. First to Louisa Bogas/Boggess? Children by first marriage: Edwin, Alpheus "Deck", Langbarn "Lang" Lovica, and Evira all born Kanawha Co., WV.

His second marriage was to Mary Ann Shiverdecker (b and d Kanawha Co. WV) in 1852 at Putnam Co. W(VA).Son, Charles Lee (1853-1938) was raised by a Aunt and Uncle. Son Alpheus (b-March 14, 1845, d-Dec. 21, 1916, buried Hillsdale, KS) married Lizzie Jane Montgomery 1871 in Morsetown, MO.

Who was George Henry Fisher's third wife? Probably married about 1858? Two children - John Franklin Fisher (b-1859, d-1/9/1948) m-Jennie Jones 8/14/1884 and George Taylor Fisher (b 6/29/1862, d-5/28/1956) m-Mary H. Sellers. Interested in more information about John and George, and descendants.

His wife, Julia Maria McKimmey, died in Paola on Nov 6, 1928. Their children: Laura (m James Robinson and Charles Tillottson); Rebecca; William Ellsworth (m Rilla M. John was also married to Elsie Velma Peterson. Lastly, a marriage date for Joseph and Margaret Goodin Doty, who were married approx. 1867; and Ruth Doty and Mark Smart, who were married about 1866.

Query: Looking for information on Nicholas Haughn (died July 21, 1930 in Miami Co). When did Nicholas Haughn and his family arrive in Miami Co? He was living in Cumberland Co. IL in 1884 and his daughter Adaline (Ada) Haughn married Oct. 19, 1892 in Miami Co. KS When Nicholas Haughn moved to Miami Co. did his mother Catherine Pocock Jennings Haughn move with them? Catherine is listed as living with Nicholas in the 1870 and 1880 census and I know she was alive in 1884. But what happened to her? Would appreciate any information.

Conner Haughn came to Kansas in Dec 1891. Their children were Mary Catherine "Mollie" (b 9 Mar 1868, d 24 Aug 1967, m 23 May 1885 at Greenup, IL to Michael Daniel Stults); Maude (b 2 Feb 1878, d 16 Mar 1946, m Dugan, Doudna, Hume); Addie E. (b 4 Apr 1873, d 9 Feb 1957, m 19 Oct 1892 Joseph W. Niles); Calvin V. (b 1876, d 1930, m Elnora Hinman); Arthur Boyd (b 26 Jan 1881, d 24 Jul 1975 Casey, IL, m 17 Dec 1902 to Nettie Electa Rose) and Daisey (m Joe Harrell).

Mollie's children: Arch, Elver, Esley, Rex, Tommy, Homer and Myrtle Burnsworth. Maude's children: Nicholas and Daniel Dugan, Rose and Elizabeth Doudna, and Elva Toumberlin and William Hume. Query: I would appreciate any information you could provide on my grandfather Samuel Reed Farley, born about 1890 possibly in Indianpolis, Indiana. I am not even certain when he died. He is buried in a cemetery in Ottawa. He was an engineer for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. His son was Austin Witt Farley who is buried in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

Query: My grandmother has given me the name of my grandfathers father and said he came from Beagle Kansas. The name I am searching is George William Fisher. I understand his father's surname was spelled 'Fischer' and he dropped the 'c' from the Fischer name. My understanding of George William Fisher is that he had a brother who was a doctor who lived in Osawatami (sp) Kansas. If you have any information on this family name I would greatly appreciate it. Response: In Family Histories and Stories of Miami County, Kansas, p. 170, there is a biographical reference to Dr. Charles A. Fisher and his wife Ethel Shinkle which was written by Beulah Shinkle Johnson. The reference is approximately 3/4 of a column and includes a picture of Dr. Fisher. Dr. Fisher died in 1970 and his wife died in 1976, both are buried in Cadmus cemetery, Linn Co., KS.

In this reference is included the following: "John Fisher and Elizabeth Brigner, parents of Charles A., were German-born, she in the area of Alsace Lorraine, bordering Germany and France. They made their home in Beagle. Ten children were born to this union: Adam, Margaret Beckley, George, Charles, Elmer, Kathryn Heath, Nora Keithley. Three little ones, Elmer and the parents are buried in Mound Creek cemetery."
