The references on the cemeteries often provide the names of the owners of the plots. There did not appear to be a map of the Indianapolis Cemtery in Vol. I. As to the question about the unmarked graves being yours, it seems unlikely since they are probably not wired for email. : )
I believe Marie may be my husband's great grandmother and am looking for additional information to either prove or refute that notion. Marie Ross married Robert W. ROSS (both surnames were Ross) about 1886. They had 4 children and were divorced before 1910. Marie's other married names were: Crofoot, Armstrong, Spicer, DeBertz. She lived until the early 1940's when she died in the area of Chanute, Neosho, Kansas.
Sarah Meek born in Kansas, married George P. Wright, son of Alfesh Wright. Children: Alvie Wright, Cora Wright, Blanche Wright, Olive Wright, Ada Wright, Roy Wright (b 27 Dec 1887 Sherman, Grayson Co., TX; d Aug 1973 Muskogee, OK, married Mary Dean (Effie) Prater 15 June 1912 Texanna, OK.
Earliest date shown is for Lem Edward Meek (b 1903), his parents shown as Samuel Andrew and Lucy Allen Meek. Nothing is recorded about other children of Samuel and Lucy.
I was hoping that you might be able to give me some advice on where to look for this information. William's death certificate is not on file with Vital Records and Carl's naturalization papers just lists the country where he immigrated from: Germany. Another tricky part of this equation is that I was always told they came from Alsace which was considered part of Germany at the time they immigrated but as you know is part of France.
Do you know where I could get copies of Minnie's death certificate and maybe a copy of their marriage license. I thought these might give me the information I am seeking. This is difficult to do so far away so I appreciate any advice you could give me.
My husband and I are taking a trip to Germany in September and are planning a side trip through Alsace. I would love to be able to visit the town they came from. I am not aware of any other relatives immigrating with them or even following them later on so my avenues are rather limited. All I really know is that they settled on a farm in Anderson County and he possibly had a store in Selma. He is buried in the Oakwood Cemetary, which I believe is in Linn County.
In Cemeteries of Miami County, Kansas, Vol. I, p. 156, New Lancaster Cemetery, there is a record for Carl Fredrick Klavon (12 Jun 1878 - 25 Jan 1955) and Myrtle Clair Nichols Klavon, his wife (28 Jan 1881 - 26 Jul 1940).
From Family Histories and Stories: p. 200 picture of students attending the Moore School 1916, includes Iva Mae, Bessie and Jessie Livingston. p. 220 Sarah (Sally) Hill (dau of Herbert Edwin Hill and Mary Elizabeth Woolsey) married George Livingston. A photo of the Hill family including Sarah (Sally) is on p 201. p. 351 On 15 July 1937, Marvin Spurlock (b 14 Feb 1911, son of James M. Spurlock and Frances Caldwell) married Georgia Livingston (b 30 Aug 1914 near Louisburg). She was the daughter of Peter Livingston and Cecil Larimer. Her grandparents were George W. Livingston and Sarah Hill, and Joseph Albert Larimer and Mary Lee (maiden name?). Her great grandparents Peter Livingston, Sr., and Dorcas Converse came from Illinois in 1871. Her great grandfather Felix Larimer was a Peoria Indian who married a French woman named Mary.
In reference to census records, essentially there are no 1890 census records. For the 1900 census you would have to go to a facility such as a regional branch of the Natl Archives, State library, LDS library or local historical/genealogy society. There may be online sites that you can pay to do the search for you but I have not used any of them.
You should also keep in mind that the State of Kansas also has state census records that fall on the 5 year intervals (i.e., 1875, 1895, 1905) which might be of help. The Kansas State library has a list with names of researchers one could hire for a nominal rate to do the researching for you.
Search the Kansas State Library Blue Skyways Server to find names recorded in the KSGenWeb Project.
