Query Surnames: Cawby

Date: 23 Jun 2002

Query: I am researching descendants of Dr Peter Trisler who are now family name CAWBY. This family originated in Jessamine County KY in the late 1700's. Information in 1982 showed Cawbys to be living in Miami County Kansas in rural Paola when I last had information about this family. I would like to make contact with any of the Cawby family that may still be residing in said county. Or if anyone knows about them, any information would be most appreciated.

Query: There was a woman named Phoebe Black who moved to Miami County in 1855. She and her husband, Fred Black, purchased 7,000 acres from the Osage Indians on the Miami County line bordering Linn County. Fred "disapeared" and Phoebe married again, six more times. One of her husbands may have been John Doud. She had seven children. If you could help me out at all in finding out the names of her other husbands, I would be deeply appreciative.
