Query Surnames: Gray

Date: 25 November 2006

Query: Looking for any and all information on Indiana-born Thomas Gray (b. April 1829) and family, including his wife Angeline (b. March 1844 in Indiana) and family (at least three children - Alonzo, born April 1867 - IN; Willie, born May 1882 - IN; and Arlie O., born December 1892 - IL).

Gray emigrated to Miami County sometime after 1892. Found in Ten-Mile Twp. for 1900 and Wea Twp. for 1910 Federal Census. Not found in 1920 so I'm presuming he and wife died sometime after 1910 (or in case of his wife, remarried).

I'm especially interested in any descendants (large number remain today in Indiana) and death information. Will share information on Thomas' ancestors (parents, grandparents, etc.) in exchange.

Query Surnames: Jones

Date: 28 May 2006

Query: Cemeteries of Miami County, Kansas, Vol III, p 534, Jones, Anna. Can you, please, look at this entry and tell me if it is my mother's mother. The Anna Jones I am searching for died in 1910, probably due to complications of child birth.

My mother is Hazel Beth Jones, the daughter of Albert Marion and Anna Jones. She was born in January 1908 in Miami County, Osawatomie; she has been told that her mother gave birth to twins in 1910, that one was either stillborn or died very soon after birth, and that the other, a daughter, Zola, was severly handicapped; and that their father could not care for the three children and walked off; neighbors and a local church took the children and they were sent to live with several families. Mother went to live with the Martin family and later the Jamison's, then back to the Martin's who took her to Colorado.
