Obituary of ROSA La VERNIE (ALDRICH) SLINGERLAND |
Death of Mrs. W. E. Slingerland Mrs. Rosa Lavernie Slingerland, wife of W. E. Slingerland, died at the home of her father, D. M. Aldrich, in Larned, Saturday, Nov. 9th, at 6:30 a.m. age 36 years, 11 months, 23 days. Rosa La Vernie Aldrich was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. M. Aldrich, and was born in Sandusky county, Ohio, November 16th, 1870. The family moved to Kansas in the year of 1887 and she was married to W. E. Slingerland June 18th, 1889. Mr. and Mrs. Slingerland have lived for a number of years on a farm four miles south of town and are well known in this community. Four children, two girls and two boys, were born to them, all of whom are now living. Mrs. Slingerland was taken ill with pneumonia on November 4th and was brought to the home of her father in Larned to be nursed. she leaves a father and mother, a brother, two sisters, besides her own immediate family. Mrs. Slingerland was a devoted wife and mother. She was converted and joined the Methodist church at the age of fifteen. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Methodist church, Rev. Barton officiating. The services were under the auspices of the Rebekahs. Interment was in Larned cemetery. The sympathy of the people of the community is extended to the bereaved family. |
