RETIRED GROCER TAKEN IN DEATH

Walton S. Belknap, 89, a retired farmer and grocer in Kansas since the early eighties, died Sunday at his home at 1748 South Broadway. Settling near Pawnee Rock, Belknap later operated a grocery store at Kiowa. He participated in the Oklahoma strip run, residing on a farm near Carmen, Okla., for many years. A resident of Wichita for the past 24 years, Belknap operated a grocery store at 308 Funston for 14 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was born in 1855 at Cole County, Ill., and was a member of the United Brethren Church. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Mrs. Harry I. Gordon, 605 North Waco.

Funeral services will be announced by the Downing Mortuary. Interment will be made in the Memorial Lawns Cemetery.
