John N. Bennett, 78, of Cheney, Kan., died in Kingman Memorial Hospital Sunday. He was a resident of Cheney 74 years,

Born Jan. 23, 1879 at Hungerford, Mich., he came to Kansas in 1884. He married Mamie Walton, Nov 5, 1902, at Cheney. Retired for the past 20 years, Bennett was a member of Cheney Masonic Lodge and Cheney Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Dale, McDonnell Air Force Base, Moscow Mills, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Vera Olthoff, Milton, Kan., and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cheney Christian Church with Rev. Gene Cherry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Cheney.
