Floyd E. Smith, aged 52, of Valley Center, Kan., died Monday morning at St. Francis hospital following a short illness.
Born September 11, 1896, in Harrison County,. Mo., he was a resident of Wichita 14 years. He came from Carthage, Mo., was yard foreman for the Cash and Carry Lumber Co., a veteran of World war I, and a member of the Baptist church, Kingman, Kan.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Valley Center; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Chambers, 3650 North Ohio and Mrs. Betty Redding, 3500 North Ohio; a son, Bill Smith, Valley Center; six grandchildren; two brothers, Barton Smith, 2419 East Morris and Russell Smith, Beaumont, Kan., and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Purkey, 432 South Hillside, Mrs. Dorothy Earnhart, 111 Piatt, and Mrs. Mary Rogers, 141 North Spruce. A son, Lt. Bob Smith was killed in World war II.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cochran mortuary. Burial will be at Kechi cemetery.
