REV. NELSON L. WATSON, 1817-1897

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Nelson L. Watson was born in Greene Co., PA, April 11, 1817. He died February 2, 1897.
    He was converted at the age of sixteen and joined the Methodist Protestant Church, entered the ministry at age 25 and continued in it for twelve years, but was compelled to give it up owing to ill health, which was a great disappointment to him and his friends.
    He moved to Illinois in 1854 where he resided until 1871 at which time he came to Kansas and settled upon the homestead where he has resided ever since. He has always continued his membership in the church and at his death had full faith in an everlasting life.
    Funeral services were conducted at the residence of the deceased. Sermon by D. F. Irwin of the M.E. Church. Text: Job 14:14.
    The Masons took charge of the services and according to ritual of that Order consigned the body to its last resting place.
