Helen K. Jira, 84, La Crosse, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, La Crosse. She was born March 21, 1923, in Morland to Andrew And Margaret (Brungardt) Knoll.
She was a 1941 graduate of La Crosse High School, and Fort Hays State College, with a degree in education. She married Frank J. Jira on May 12, 1947, in La Crosse. She taught school for 45 years in Rush and Barton counties.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Fran Kovach, Springfield, Ill.; a sister, Theresa Schaffer, Liebenthal; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Burial in the La Crosse City Cemetery, Rush County, Kansas.
