George J. Knopp, the fifth son of Anton and Susan Stall Knopp, was born Feb. 18 1891 near Bennet, Nebr. He died at Selden, Jan. 14, 1961. Funeral services were held in the Sacred Heart Church of Selden at 9:00 a.m., Jan. 17, 1961. Rev. P. L. Cronin officiated at the Requiem High Mass. Interment was in the Selden Cemetery.

Most of his early life was spent in Lancaster County, Nebr. He came to Sheridan County, Kans., in 1921 and in 1932 he purchased a farm northwest of Selden located in Decatur County.

On Oct 20, 1936 George was married to Emma Blickenstaff of Oberlin. He brought his bride to his farm which was their home until they retired to Selden about a year ago.

To this union three children were born. John, 23, and Marvin, 18, who are now operating the farm and Leona Marie, 21 now Sister Mary Roberta, a member of the Dominican Order at Great Bend. Sister Roberta currently is at Sacred Heart College, Wichita.

Beside his wife and children he is survived by three brothers, Louis of Lincoln, Nebr., Bernard and Will of Bennet, Nebr., two sisters, Mrs. Anna Mumm of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Susie Helus of Phoenix, Ariz., also a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Out of town relatives attending the George Knopp funeral Tuesday, Jan. 17 were their daughter, Sister Mary Roberta with her companion, Sister Mary Germaine of Great Bend, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Knopp, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Knopp and Susan, Lincoln; Mr. Will Knopp and Mr. Bernard Knopp, Bennet, Nebr.; Mrs. Anna Mumm, Seattle, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Feldt and Ronnie, Park; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Lindeman, Menlo; Mrs. Al Kleinsorge and boys, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Bencken, Rexford; Mrs. Marlene Kennedy and Mrs. Theresa Major, Beloit; Mrs. Maxine Henning, Athol; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blickenstaff, Judy and David, Oberlin; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Blickenstaff and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Blickenstaff, Norton; Mr. and Mrs. Duane Blickenstaff and Bruce, Wilsonville, Nebr.; and Mr. and Mrs. Carle Blickenstaff, Quinter.
