U.S. ARMY VETERAN WWII:

Fred Pratt, 97, Hoxie, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at Sheridan County Long Term Care, Hoxie. He was born Nov. 15, 1910, near Studley to George H. and Esther M. Conard Pratt.

He married Helen Briery on Oct. 31, 1940, in Hoxie. She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 2002. He was a rancher. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Fred L. Pratt and Harry Joe Pratt, a daughter, Roberta Kay Nery, seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Hoxie; burial in Hoxie Cemetery.
