OBITUARY of Fern I. Lofstead
Texarkana, Texas - Fern Irene Lofstead, 92, former Ellis resident, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at a local nursing center.
She was born Oct. 29, 1911, in WaKeeney and had lived in Texarkana the past four years, coming from Ellis. She was a retired Postal Service worker.
Survivors include a son, Gary, Wichita; two daughters, Phyllis Dixon, and Karen Deutscher, ; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Lofstead, he died November 5, 1930.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church, Texarkana. Additional services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Ellis, burial in Ogallah Cemetery. Texarkana Funeral Home, Texarkana, is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wasinger Funeral Home, Ellis. Submitted by Gayle M. Garrett
