Dorothy Ann MONG
12-05-1939 — 06-11-2009

Dorothy Ann Mong departed this world to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the age of 69. Dorothy was born December 5, 1939, the 3rd of 6 loving children unto Joseph & Anna (Engelbrecht) Opat of WaKeeney.

Dorothy married her heart's companion, Curtis D. Mong, June 29th, 1957. They started their family and life together in WaKeeney, KS. Curtis and Dorothy made a comfortable home for their 3 children as she chose an active career of helping others through serving and cleaning. Dorothy reserved a large portion of her heart for her loving and supportive family as spending time with them was second to none. Her other passions included keeping genealogy records, playing bingo, collecting antiques, creating crafts, baking, crocheting, spending time with her 4 grandchildren, Matthew Mong and his wife, Angela, Ean, Chelsea and Hailey Mong, and playing with her only great-granddaughter, Madison Kate Mong as well as her great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Curtis D. Mong; and three supportive children, John Mong & his wife, Darla, Janie Mong, and Jerry Mong and his wife, Sherri. She is further survived by her sisters Mary Deines and her husband, Laverne, and Barbara Opat; and her brothers Eugene and James Opat.

Preceding her in death were her parents Joseph and Anna Opat, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Joan Fry; and niece Karen Rose Fry.

Interment is in the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at WaKeeney.
