My great-uncle John Earl DYER was born Mar 29, 1891 in Summerset, Kansas according to his WWI draft registration card. I can't find this place, and USGS's web server never heard of it. Does anyone know where it is? I suspect it is near the Missouri border, as the rest of the family is from Jackson County, Missouri.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Topic: ALBRECHT Surname From: John Albrecht jalbrecht@revealed.net Date: Saturday, November 06, 1999 01:52 AM

My g-g-grandfather, George Albrecht, and 3 sons; Nicholas, Christ and Henry, came to Kansas from Germany in 1869. The tale has been told, in the family, of coming to Kansas in a covered wagon. The actual location in Kansas has never been reported. My g-grandfather, Nicholas, left Kansas in about 1873 and moved to Davenport, Iowa. His father and brothers stayed in Kansas. Nicholas was a butcher. When he died, in 1908, the obituary stated that his brothers were still living in Kansas. These records, that I've been able to obtain, mentioned no mother or sisters, but I saw a record in another newspaper that said he came to Kansas with several sisters, as well as, his brothers. Could anyone suggest how I might find this Kansas information? Thanks.
