Looking for info on Schultz family. Ggrandfather John Dennis Schultz was born in KS (county unknown) ca.1880, he married Vena Hilbert and together they had a son (also in KS, but also unknown where) Willard Schultz ca. 1904. They came to Oregon a short time later and had at least two more children, Grace in 1908, and Alice Marie in May 1911. Need to find out where in KS they were from. Would greatly appreciate hearing from someone who might have them in their family tree (Schultz or Hilbert, or someone who may have some info on them. Thanks!

Topic: James HUMPHREY of Kansas
From: Martyn Peart peart@xenon.net
Date: Thursday, February 24, 2000 01:30 AM

My great great Uncle was a James HUMPHREY who was born near Mansfield, Notts, England in 1833. He emigrated to USA in 1854 and eventually settled in Kansas. He married a Mary Vance (born Springfield, Ohio) in the autumn of 1861. He became a newspaper editor, then a lawyer and was eventually appointed a judge and died in Topeka in 1907 . So far as I know he had three sons Herbert J., Spencer (killed in a railway accident 22 Sept 1815) and James V. and two daughters Eleanor and Adelia. Adelia became the vice principal of a College somewhere in USA.

This information has come via family records and is all I know. I am currently building up records of my family history and If anyone one can throw further light on the life of James HUMPHREY and his descendents I would greatly appreciate it.

Martyn PEART, Queensland, Australia

I am looking for the any information on the King Ranch. It was according to the family legend the largest ranch (I am not sure what the comparison was in reference to). Two of the sons were big rodeo champions.

My great Grandfather James Mose Duncan Sr aka Jim Duncan worked on this ranch. He was born in cir 1891

He as married to Viola Morris Duncan dob 5/18/1900. She was either mostly likely a nurse or school teacher.

They had 3 children in the following birth order James Duncan Katherine Elizabeth Duncan 10/16/1919 born in Nowata Cty KS. Mary Lou Duncan

I just found my family, unfortunately my family is mostly gone or suffering altzheimers. Trying to fill in the holes the hard way.

Maybe you have an answer already but, the only King Ranch I've heard of is in Texas. It was big, the only thing bigger was the rest of the State of Texas and the ego's of most Texan's.

Topic: LINN CO BETTES INFO
From: Jennifer Abernathy crzyjen@swbell.net
Date: Wednesday, February 02, 2000 10:08 PM

Am looking for information on the family Bettes. Brothers Thomas (wife Mary C. Ball) and Hadden (Mary Ellen McGrew) moved here. Thomas is listed in the Pensioners and in Cutler's history. Hadden and his family are not. Hadden's oldest 2 were born in Mound City I believe. They would be Robert and Thomas in 1877 and 1879. Hadden had 9 children. I believe the first 3 were definitely born in Linn County. Am stuck at a dead end, any information would be appreciated. Thank you!
