Topic: SPERRY, Charles
From: Tacy Lewis taarledge@aol.com
Date: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 06:21 PM
Looking for Charles S SPERRY, b ca 1822 NY/NJ, res Vinton Co OH 1840-1860.
Believe him to be the Charles Sperry in Smith Center, KS in 1880 census, but not
listed there in 1885 census, nor in any cemetery records there. Where did he go?
I understand a grasshopper plague hit Smith Center in that time period, and many
moved on to Colby, Thomas Co KS as well as points west. He had a family in OH,
and apparently a second family in KS, so should be lots of descendants. Will
share earlier generations. Tacy

Topic: Pliny Lamb&unknown Drain
From: Betty VanLeer bvl54@aol.com
Date: Sunday, January 12, 2003 09:24 AM
Pliny Lamb b. about 1831 m. Olive Gilbert b. 1831 in 1869 in Rossville,
Illinois. Olive had a sister Mary E. b. 1834 who married an unknown Drain, not
in Illinois. According to the "Biographical Sketches of Citizens of Vermilion
Co., Illinois" both girls went to Kansas after 1869.
The parents of Olive and Mary E are Samuel Gilbert and Elizabeth Dougherty
Ferrior Gilbert. It was the second marriage for both.
There was a Dougherty family in Kansas about this time, a Francis Lemuel
Dougherty who had a large family. Francis was related to both Olive and Mary
through their mother.
Would like to find both these couples. I have not found them in the census.
Please help. Thanks

Topic: Descendents of John ( Henry?) Wrede and
Adeline De
From: Cricket Hackmann hackmann@gte.net
Date: Friday, January 03, 2003 01:17 PM
I am looking for information on my great grandmother's family. Margaret
Elizabeth Wrede was born January 10, 1876 in St. Louis, Missouri, died May 27,
1933 in Belleville, St. Clair County, IL. According to her death certificate,
her father was John Wrede (born in Germany) and her mother's maiden name was
Adeline Deaton. Her obituary says that she had 7 brothers and sisters, who were
all living in Kansas.
Margaret Wrede married John Eifert (born in Kentucky) about 1896, and had three
children by this marriage: Julia Eifert, b. 1897; George Eifert, b. 1899; and
John Eifert, b. after 1899. After her first husband died, she married Edward
Adam Keller in 1918, and her youngest child, Margaret Anne Keller was born in
1919. I found her in the 1920 and 1930 St. Louis census', as Margaret
Keller.
According to both census', Margaret's father John (or Henry) Wrede was born in
Germany, and his first language was German. Her mother (Adeline Deaton Wrede)was
born in Pennyslvania. I have searched the 1880 census index's for any Wrede
husbands and wives who fit this description, but I'm coming up empty.
Margaret's youngest daughter remembers taking trips with her mother to Topeka KS
to visit relatives -- and since her obituary said that she had 7
brothers/sisters who lived in Kansas, I thought I would see if any of their
descendents still lived in the Shawnee County area. If any of this sounds
familiar, please contact me. I'd be happy to share information.
