Topic: William George Chapman
From: Dorene Stevenson spinnerbaits@cox.net
Date: Tuesday, June 10, 2003 08:04 AM

I am looking for any information on William George Chapman who lived in KS. He Married Ernestine Ursula Wager around 1870's. They had four children in Leavenworth and four in Enterprise. I have posted a message under the Leavenworth queries location which has a little more detail. They left KS around 1900 with the Arend and Reiner family and settled in Louisiana. His grave marker say born Jun 21, 1850, died Oct 26, 1920. He may have been born in Manchester England.

Ernestine Wager might be the daughter of Sebastian or Sebastiel Wager of Leavenworth who married Agatha Griswold from France. We are interested in any information on either the Wager or Chapman family. I have some info from the 1860 census on the Wagers but have never found William George in any census. Saw a brief biography of Sebastian in a Leavenworth history. You can e-mail me at spinnerbaits@cox.net or post. Anything will help.

Thanks
Dorene (William G. Chapmans GG Granddaughter)

Topic: Bennett / Is there a 1900 statewide census index for Kansas
From: Laura Mitchell lmitch@iquest.net
Date: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 09:39 AM

I am looking for the William G. Bennett family. They moved to Kansas from Indiana after 1888. In the 1910 census, one son is 18 years old and is listed as born in Kansas. The younger sons are also listed as born in Kansas, and there is a fourth unknown son somewhere. If there is a 1900 state wide census index for 1900, perhaps I can find out what county they were in. The lived in Wichita in 1910 and 1920, but I found an online Sedgwick county census index for 1900 and they were not in it.

William G. Bennett, born Indiana, head, born about 1863
Margaret, wife, also called "Maggie", born January. 16, 1870
Sons William W. (Wells) Bennett born June 24, 1891
Ike (?)
John S. Bennett born abt 1898/1899
Another son, Floyd A. Bennett was not born until 1905 and will not be in the 1900 census

I have access to Ancestry Plus census images at the library but have to have an enumeration district, county, page, etc. in order to find them.

If anyone can direct me to someone who can do a lookup, I would appreciate it.

If an index is available, I might be able to rent if from a genealogical lending library.

Thank you,
Laura in Terre Haute, Indiana

Thank you so much, Debbie! This is just what I needed.
Can you believe, today at my library I ordered the Soundex for 1900 and now I won't need it. I can't wait to get to the library and look up the census image on Ancestry Plus.
The wife in this family was my grandfather's step sister.

Topic: Look Up on Elmer Clark and Alice Green
From: Linda Allen mom2her@yahoo.com
Date: Thursday, April 17, 2003 11:49 AM

Hi. I'm totally new to this board and am doing research on my father's side of the family. I learned from the 1920 or 1930 census that my great-grandfather's parents came from Kansas, but I just found out their names yesterday. The only thing is that I have absolutely no idea where they lived or who their parents/families were.

Their names were Elmer (or John Elmer) Clark and Alice (or Melinda Alice) Green. Guesstimating from Gr-Grandpa Archie's birth in Oregon in 1896, I am assuming that Elmer and Alice were probably born sometime in the 1870s or even late 1860s.

I know this is a shot in the dark, but is anybody else researching this family, or would anyone be willing to do a look-up to see if there might be anything out there on these guys? Any help would be more appreciated than you know, as this family appears to be elusive and nomadic. Thanks so much, in advance!

Topic: David CARNEGIE
From: Wendy Erosky w.erosky@worldnet.att.net

Am looking for information on David CARNEGIE, born Canada (about 1830?). He married Sarah GREER also born Canada. I found Sarah on the 1880 census for Labette Co KS listed as a widow with the following children: Margaret, David, Fred, Charles, Harvey and Florence. Does anybody recognize this family?
