Topic: Stadler in Kansas
From: Shane Edgar sje5@sbcglobal.net
Date: Sunday, August 31, 2003 01:56 PM

I have information on a Stadler line that lived in Eudora, Douglas County in 1875. Here is what I have: Joseph Stadler b. 1810 in Germany, d. 1875 in Kansas, m. Anna Maria Neustifter in 1837 in Germany. Anna died in 1894. They emmigrated in 1855 and settled in Douglas County. The rest of this information comes from 1875 census for Eudora: Two definite sons are Herman b. abt. 1852 in Germany and Louis b. abt. 1854 in Germany. There are two other probable sons: George b. abt. 1844 in Germany (married to Louisa b. abt. 1851 in Canada and had two children Willie b. abt. 1873 in KS and George b. abt. 1875 in KS) and John b. abt. 1840 in Germany (married to Christine b. abt. 1847 in Germany and had two children Francis b. abt. 1873 in KS and John Jr. b. abt. 1874 in KS). I have much more information on the history of this family and would really like to share what I have with the descendants. If my e-mail address is incorrect at the time you view this, please go to http://platzoder_stadler.tripod.com/index.html. Thank you.

Barnett Morrison left Gibson County, Indiana sometime in 1888 or 1889 and came to Kansas. Where in Kansas? One of his daughters, Maud Morrison is said to have married Joseph Elihu Holcombe in March of 1890 in Kansas. Where? Barnett's youngest son, Roy William Morrison, was born in Kansas in 1892. Again, where? An obscure Census Index lists Barnett Morrison in Kansas in 1890. But where? The family moved to Oklahoma in 1893. Where in Kansas did they come from? Can anyone help?

Topic: George Watson
From: Jeannette Haynie jswatson71@hotmail.com
Date: Friday, August 22, 2003 08:28 PM

I am searching for a George Watson who moved to Kansas after 1880, most likely. He is listed in the 1880 Iowa Census married to a Margery, 32, and had two daughters, Mary and Sarah L. My grandfather said that he moved to Western Kansas to start a cattle ranch there. I do not know the county. He was in the Civil War and fought in Georgia. His brother and he were taken prisoners to Andersonville Prison where his brother died and he returned to Iowa, married and then moved to Kansas never to keep in contact. Can anyone help me with this family? The 1880 Iowa Census has his birth as 1842. I know he was born in Muncy Creek, Lycoming, PA to Isaac and Rebecca Watson. Thank you very much for your time.

Hi, I found this at http://www.kshs.org/genealogists/census/kansas/census1895ks.htm

Kansas 1895 Census
Watson, George R 56 M W Pennsylvania Lincoln Indiana Township
Watson, Mary 47 F W Indiana
Watson, Charles 25 M W Iowa
Watson, Meta 24 F W Pennsylvania
Watson, E 20 M W Kansas
Watson, Lulu 12 F W Iowa
Watson, Canol 3 M W Kansas

Not sure if this is him, but was the only Geo. born in PA and close to that age. If you would like I could look at the original census papers, it will tell where they came from before coming to Ks.
