I am looking for any connections, however tenuous, to the Waugh surname in Cherokee County.

In 1880, Sheridan, Cherokee:

Hariet WAUGH W Female 65 OH Keeping House
William WAUGH S Male 24 OH Farms
Charles E. WAUGH S Male 12 OH

I believe that this could be my Harriet (Trowbridge), widow of Robert Pane Waugh. She was born in Washington County OH in 1824, but has vanished from the area by 1856.

in 1920 Cherokee:

at 987 12th Street, dwelling 196, family 217

William B. Waugh, Married WM, age 58, mine operator
Edna M. Waugh, wife, WF, age 57
William D. Waugh, son, WM, age 18
George Waugh, son, WM, age 14

Despite the age discrepancy, I am hopeful that this is the same William Waugh on both censuses.

What happened to Harriet? When did she die? What about Grandson Charles in the 1920? He can't be 1920 William's son-too close in age. Who is Charles' dad? Does he belong to a son of Harriet or to an unmarried daughter?

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
