My gggrandfather Robert McConnell the son of Thomas Jefferson McConnell bought land here in Waterloo Twp. and moved to Emporia with his wife (Mary Ann Kiser) and four children (Kittie, Minnie, Grace and Alfred) around March of 1875. He purchased and ran the Merchants Hotel from a Mr. Champlin. Here Robert died of Typhoid fever Aug. 19, 1876.

His wife then took the children and either moved to New York and got married or married and moved to NY to a Mr. Bartholomew?

I want to know more about their lives and any records that might be available about this family. Alfred is my ggrandfather.

The family moved here from Madison, WI where T.J. McConnell bought and sold land for a living.

Robert was born July 8, 1839 in Montgomery Co., OH (Dayton). They moved to Madison in 1855. Robert has many brothers and sisters of which I have them all on file.
