The first recorded marriage in Elk Creek township was R. H. Vining and Martha J. Oliver, 1 Jan 1869. Elk Creek Township contains the town of Agenda, Kansas.

In 1871, Elk Creek township was organized and Robert H. Vining, Trustee, was one of the officers.

The first surveyed on record was surveyed in 1869 in Grant Township which was recorded in 1871. The second road surveyed was in 1870 in Elk Creek record3d on February 9, 1871. The signature on the survey plat is that of R. H. Vining, Trustee, dated 15 May 1872.
