I am looking for information on my GGgrandfather and family.
He was a bishop with the Mennonites.
Benjamin F. Hamilton was born in Pottsville, Pa., July, 4, 1825, and died May 10, 1898. He grew to manhood in Allentown, Pa. and in 1843 went to Medina Co., Ohio. Dec. 30, 1845 he married Elizabeth Nahrgang.
He resided in Williams Co., Ohio, till 1865, when on account of his wife's failing health he moved to Owen Co., Ind. where she died in 1866.
To this union there were born five sons. Samuel, Benjamin Jr.,Joseph,David and Unknown. In 1866 he married Catherine Holley. To this union there were born six sons and three daughters. Mary Ann, William A.,Elijah (Eli), John Henry, Charles Ed.,Louisa Margaret, Nathaniel Ira, Susan Elizabeth, and Edwin Arthur.
In 1869 he moved to Livingston Co., Ill. where he served the church until 1883, when he moved to Cherokee Co., Kansas; He lived in Harper Co. where some of the family remain. from there he went to Marion Co. where he lived until his death.
