My great-grandfather John S. Wilson was listed in the 1870 censes for Montgomery County, Westralia Township along with wife Mary and children Will, M.E. (Malinda), Grace J., and J.A. They had another child, Arthur B., in 1873. Apparently something happened to Mary, as John went to Montague Co, TX, in 1873, married Mary Mathews Rozell, and brought her back to Kansas where they had their first child Julia Ann in 1874. By 1877 the family has moved to Missouri then Texas. One of Julia Wilson's daughters told me "Old man Coffey ruined my granddaddy." Does anyone have any information about this family and/or what this incident might have been about?
