Obituary of Mrs. Pratt

Mrs. Hansie Mead Pratt widow of Ira A. Pratt, was born in Roxbury, Delaware County, New York, on September 9, 1841. On September 1, 1867, she was united to Ira A. Pratt at her home near Port Byron, Illinois, remaining there till February 1885, when they located in Yates Center, Kansas, later moving to Coyville, Kansas, where her husband departed this life July 3, 1911. After the passing of her husband, Mrs Pratt came to Casey, Iowa, to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Tom Morgan. The following year the Morgan family accompanied by Mrs. Pratt moved to a farm north of Menlo, where they continued to reside until 1923 when they moved to Glendale, California, where Mrs. Pratt passed on, on Sunday, March 11, 1923, aged 81 years, 7 months and 2 days. Two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Lawrence of Coyville, Kansas and Mrs. Madge Morgan of Glendale, California, are the only children left from a family of five. Richard and Alfred Redshaw are her grandsons. Mrs. Pratt was laid to rest beside her husband, son and daughter, at Coyville, Kansas, Friday March 16, 1923. Her daughter, Mrs. Tom Morgan, accompanying her remains. During their residence in Menlo vicinity Grandma Pratt and the Morgan family made many friends among our people, who mourn, with Mrs. Morgan, the passing of her mother.
