Harper
Isaac Morrison COUCH, was born in TN., the son of Thomas and Rhoda Patton Couch, in 1831. A resident of Sullivan Co., MO from 1856-1883, Isaac was in Company E, 44th Regiment, Missouri Volunteer Infantry, during the Civil War.  He moved with his family to Harper Co. KS in 1883 and died there in 1911.  He is buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony, KS.   Ann Walenta

John H. GIGGY was born in Canton Berne, Switzerland May 14, 1838.   He came to America with his parents, Benedict and Christina Giggy in December, 1852.   He enlisted in Company H of the 44^th Indiana Volunteer Infantry August 28, 1861.  He was injured at the Battle of Shiloh and again in the Battle of Chickamauga.  He was discharged in October, 1865.  He and his family moved to Kansas after the Civil War.  Where they homesteaded and farmed. He died on the family farm near Milton, Kansas January 5, 1918.  He is buried in the Attica Cemetery near Attica, Kansas in Harper County.    Linda Mills

Dr. H. C. MARTIN, 2nd Louisiana Confederacy as a surgeon, spent his life taking care of the indigent in Harper county, KS.  He made his home just outside of Harper City on the corner of the Chickaskia River.  He is buried in his family plot and his father who was an infamous Count of Heidelberg, Germany had to leave because of religious persecution.  Dr. Martin was entered into rest in the Harper City cemetery with his wife, Mary F.
