Henry Francis BROFFT was born in 1858 in Chillicothe, OH. He was a Stone Mason about 1885 in Chillicothe, OH & then in Cowley Cty KS. He supposedly died/drowned in the Arkansas River in KS in a flood on Arkansas River.
Henry Brofft (eldest son of Rudolph Franz and Hannah Brofft) went west with family from Indiana by wagon train, later married Amanda Gates, youngest sister of Jim (James) Gates (who married Laura Johns). They also had a daughter, Della Brofft, (m. James Duncan): had Roscoe (last in Illinois) & Valerie, (last to be in Colorado).
Henry Brofft who wrote the wonderful letters from the wagon train and later from Oklahoma is said to have drowned in a flood on the Arkansas River - could this possibly be traced?
Children of Henry are:
Roscoe Warren BROFFT born about 1882 in KS. He resided at 221 South 13th in 1920 in Arkansas City, KS.
Della F. BROFFT b. 1885 KS
Francis W. BROFFT b. 1887 KS
Henry BROFFT b. 1888 Cowley, KS
Valerie C. BROFFT b. 1889
Albert Rudolph BROFFT b. 1892 Arkansas City d. IL 1964.
