I am hoping to find some helpful information to help me with my family research. If you have any information please respond. I am searching for information on J.W.Key and family. Here is what John Walter's obituary says.
J.W. Key died Friday, February 6, 1925, seven weeks after receiving the injuries which caused his death.
He had been a partial invalid for about eleven years.
He was born in Norwick, England, September 26,1844, being 80 years, 4 months and 10 days old when death relieved him of his suffering.
While not being a member of any church, he believed in his mother's religion, all all thru his long life he could repeat the little prayers she had taught him in his childhood. He came to America and arrived in Orleans County, N.Y. on the day that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and remained there for seven years, then came to Kansas with his wife and four children and lived in Greenwood County about thirty-five years.
He left to mourn his loss, his wife, two sons and one daughter. fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, all living in Greenwood county, two great-great grand children in Wichita Falls, Texas, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lindamood. Mrs. Lindamood was Lily Taylor, making five living generations until Mr. Key's death. The funeral was preached by Rev. Fred Johnson, pastor of the M.E. Church. The pall bearers were his two sons, Ben and Walter Key,and four grandsons, Roy , Enest and Edward Key and Willie Combs. Interment was made in Neal cemetery by the side of his first wife, who died March 3, 1908.
