I'm researching my Prather family and have found them to be in Allen County, KS on the 1900 Federal Census.
1900 FEDERAL CENSUS
ALLEN COUNTY, KANSAS
ELM TOWNSHIP
255-260
Prather:
*Marshall..head..Aug 1835..age 64..married for 45 yrs.. birth MO..father MO...mother MO
*Susan..wife..Oct 1838..age 61..mother of 1/1 living.. birth
KY..father KY... mother KY
*James..son..Feb 1860..age 40..widow..birth MO..father MO..
mother KY...carpenter
*Ralph..grandson..Dec 1893.. age 6..birth KS..father MO..
mother KS
James Gish Prather, age 31, my great grandfather, maried a Daisy Grant, age 26, Dec. 8, 1892 in Garnett, Anderson County, KS. It has him listed as being from Blue Mound, Linn County, KS and the bride from Garnett. In-between Ralph's birth in 1893 and the Census (1900) Daisy had died, and James and Ralph moved to Allen County to live with James' parents. There are a few things on this census that are wrong. Marshall was born in KY. Susan A. (Finley)Prather was born in IL. James was born Jan. 11, 1861 in Linn County, Missouri.
If anyone has anymore information of any of these families, it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Dale Looper
