Howard Hillis married Hazel Irene Grimmett, the oldest child of George Grimmett and Sarah Melissa (Sadie) Kelly (Kelley) on 03 December 1920 in Emporia. Hazel was born 06 September 1902 in Americus. George Grimmett was the son of Enoch Grimmett and Priscilla Davis and Sadie was the daughter of Marion Kelly (Kelley) and his wife, Martha who's last name I believe is Phebus but am still working to verify that.

Hazel was my grandfather's sister. In 1906 Hazel and her younger sister Gertie were rescued from a house fire in Americus. Gertie died a few days later from her injuries.

Most of the Grimmetts are buried in Fruitland Cemetery, a few miles west of Americus. I believe Hazel is buried in a cemetery in/near Lyndon, Kansas.
