Eleanor
Banks was born May 12, 1922, at Peck, Kansas, to Hugo William and Stella
Pearl (Moomau) Thom. She has one brother, Wayne Thom. She was baptized
December 24, 1922, by Pastor H.J. Lloeppelweroh at Peck, Kansas. She was
confirmed April 24, 1938, by Pastor P.G. Krause in St. John's Lutheran Church
in Nashville, Kansas.
Alvin Ray Banks was born January 25, 1919, at Maxey,
Colorado, to Arthur Ray and Cora Gladys (Ammann) Banks, the eldest of three
children.
Alvin Ray Banks and Eleanor Maxine Thom were married September
26, 1948, at her parents' home near Isabel, Kansas, by Pastor Herman Seyfert.
Their children are Alan Roger, born August 14, 1949 at Nashville Hospital,
Nashville, Kansas; and Galen Gene, born December 25, 1951, at Medicine Lodge
Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Ray was called to serve in the
army during World War II from March 1942 until October 1945. He was a farmer.
He died January 8, 1987.
Roger married Linda Gerant and they have three
children: Kenny, Karen and Kevin. They live in Harper, Kansas. Galen married
Carolyn Sharp and they have three children: Chad, Kyle and Gala. They live in
Pratt, Kansas.
Eleanor lives on the farm where she and Ray moved in May
1949. Her sons do the farming. Eleanor enjoys sewing and she cared for her
mother until her death July 20, 1992.
